Background Checks

If you are a troop leader, co-leader, treasurer (or have your name on a GS bank account), or cookie manager or are responsible for girls or handle GS funds AND you have not completed the GS background check, the time has come to do so. If you have not had a background check conducted by Girl Scouts of Central Maryland in the last 12 months, you must do so by August 30, 2011. If you have already completed the process, you do not need another background check for three years from the date on your approval letter.

As of August 30th, 2011 the company that will perform the background checks will change and the new fee will be $9.50. The new system will allow volunteers to perform their own background check from the privacy of their home making the process more secure. Until then, we are still using our current provider who's fee is $5.00, volunteers still have time to submit their background consent forms at the lower cost.

Programs on Demand

Council now has programs on demand at the Seton Drive location. This is a great way for busy leaders to provide programming for their troops. A list of the programs is available here. Please note that Council requests eight weeks' advance notice.
